Coworking Conferences You Must Attend In 2018/19

As the coworking phenomenon keeps gaining momentum, a great variety of events are popping up around the world to introduce the industry to newcomers, reveal the latest coworking trends to those already in the know, and provide remote workers with the tools and resources they need to succeed in today’s labor market.

The Global Coworking Unconference Conference series is leading the way, with events in a range of cross-continent locations, and there are several other large and small gatherings to help you find out more about coworking.

GCUC UK

  • When: September 25-26, 2018

London’s first coworking conference has lined up a stellar mix of speakers and attendees from the industry. Topics include the future of work and the impact of AI, the importance of niche spaces and sustainable practices, financing your space, and the blurring line between the hospitality and coworking industries.

Coworking India

Now in its third year, SocialWorkplaces.com and World Office Expo have partnered to host the Coworking India event. With approximately 20 speakers and panelists, the program will cover topics like the future of work in India, how to address the challenges and opportunities of the industry, technical solutions for spaces, and how to design an inspirational and unique coworking space.

Smart Workspace Design Summit

  • When: October 4-5, 2018
  • Where: Novotel Amsterdam City Hotel, Amsterdam, Netherlands

With more than 18 hours of content presented across two stages and five expert panel discussions, the Smart Workspace Design Summit brings together expert advisors from big brands including the LEGO Group, Nestle, Google and Quora. Organized by Fleming, the focus is on ensuring a clear ROI from smart workspace design – with an emphasis on employee happiness and experience.

Nomad City

  • When: October 8-14, 2018
  • Where: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
  • Price: €97 – €147

While not a purely coworking-centric event, this annual event focuses on remote work, distributed companies and location-independent entrepreneurship. On Friday there are two tracks: one for corporates and one for freelancers. The other four days combine a mixture of yoga, hiking, workshops and networking events.

European Freelancers Week

  • When: October 12-21, 2018
  • Where: Local events across Europe
  • Price: Usually free of charge

This series of events is held across different cities across Europe with the common goal of bringing together the freelancer community under the #EFWeek umbrella. “Events can be proposed by anyone, as long as these give freelancers the chance to inspire, connect, learn, promote, co-create and get active,” according to the organizers, who also emphasize the importance of the coworking movement to add value to the flexible worker demographic.

7in7 Digital Nomad Conference

  • When: October 16-23, 2018
  • Where: Medellín, Colombia
  • Price: $579 USD

7in7 is a series of events with the goal of hosting seven conferences in seven years over seven continents. With previous incarnations in Asia and Europe, this year it’s South America’s turn to bring together digital nomads eager to network and find out more about the event’s continuing theme: nomad social responsibility.

GCUC Canada

  • When: October 21-23, 2018
  • Where: Banff, Rocky Mountains, Canada
  • Price: CAN$300 to $400

At the time of writing, the exact details for this three-day event are still to be announced, but the organizers promise: “Speakers, panelists and performers from around the globe will explore the complex nature of the independent workforce, self-employment, collaborative workspace, community building, the coworking movement, the sharing economy and the evolution of our rapidly expanding industry.”

EXPLORE Quality Coworking Autumn 2018

  • When: October 29-30, 2018
  • Where: The Melting Pot, 5 Rose Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PR, UK
  • Price: £240 (application required)

If you’re interested in opening a coworking space, EXPLORE Quality Coworking is an event “for leaders and decision makers who are starting community-focused quality coworking spaces.” Covering a range of topics from starting multiple spaces to building that all-important culture, this event explores the key elements to build a quality coworking business.

Coworking Europe 2018

  • When: November 14-16, 2018
  • Where: B. Amsterdam, Jonhan Huizingalaan, 763A, Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • Price: currently €650 – €750 (last minute)

Organized by SocialWorkplaces.com and following last year’s event in Dublin, Coworking Europe 2018 covers the rise of coworking from three perspectives: business, trends and impact. With an estimated 500 attendees, much of the program is yet to be announced, but confirmed topics include automation, community, and a conversation between Europe’s biggest coworking players on the challenges of the industry.
