Hines announced that Denver-based Chipotle Mexican Bar and Grill will be opening a new headquarters in the city’s newest office building at 1144 Fifteenth.
The first Class AA office tower to be built in Denver in over three decades, 1144 Fifteenth will rise above 600 feet, and house Chipotle’s corporate offices on floors 20 through 24, with options to expand in order to accommodate future growth. The 15-year lease encompasses 152,000 square feet and is expected to provide sufficient capacity for all 450 Denver-based Chipotle corporate employees.
Chipotle’s space will feature a roomy employee lobby and social area, with a grand staircase that connects two of the floors. Employees will also have access to the 5,000-square-foot fitness center located on the second-floor mezzanine, and enjoy 360-degree unobstructed mountain and city views and around-the-clock security services.
The LEED Gold-certified Central Denver office building incorporates state-of-the-art air filtration systems and a 10% higher energy efficiency rate compared to other local structures. Completion of the building is slated for next year’s first quarter, and Chipotle’s move-in is scheduled for late 2018. Other notable Colorado-based tenants include Gates Corp., Greenberg Taurig LLP, Optiv Security and Unicom Capital.
Steve Ells, founder and CEO of Chipotle, stated: “Chipotle first started in Denver almost 25 years ago, as a single restaurant on Evans Avenue across from the University of Denver. Today, we have more than 3,500 restaurants, and more than 450 people who work out of our main office. Our roots are here, and this contemporary, collaborative and modern space will position us to look ahead to the next 25 years.”
