I Heart Mac & Cheese — a growing fast-food chain with more than 40 locations across the U.S. — has signed a lease for a new headquarters within Boca Raton, Fla.
The move away from the chain’s previous digs at 621 NW 53rd St. marks an expansion of its footprint in the city. The company is set to occupy a 7,118-square-foot office space at 6600 N. Military Trail, which is part of the Office Depot corporate campus. I Heart Mac & Cheese will relocate about 30 of its employees to the third floor of the building.
The Office Depot corporate campus is currently undergoing a significant redevelopment project by landlords BH Group and Pebb Enterprises. After selling the property last year for $104 million to the joint venture, Office Depot decided to consolidate its space within the 650,000-square-foot office complex to occupy roughly 285,000 square feet going forward.
The owners’ plans include the conversion of one of the office buildings on site into 500 multifamily units, while the two remaining buildings will provide upwards of 407,500 square feet of Boca Raton office space. The campus will also feature a 36,700-square-foot luxury gym and 42,000 square feet of retail space. The city’s site plan approval process for the development is expected for the closing months of 2024.
“Our ongoing capital improvements plan and long-term strategy to incorporate residential, retail, restaurant and luxury gym components only enhance the property’s appeal,” said Eric Hochman, chief investment officer for Pebb Enterprises.
The deal was completed by a CBRE team comprised of Joe Freitas and John Criddle, along with Adam Starr of Pebb, which brokered the deal on behalf of the landlord. Pete Schlang of Woolbright Developers conducted the negotiations on behalf of the tenant.
