Hines’ flexible workspace platform, The Square, is set to open a new location this fall at the Bowen Building in downtown Washington, D.C.
With 20% of the workspace already leased, the Washington, D.C. coworking space can accommodate up to 225 people across its 30 offices and three suites. Catering to individuals or teams of up to 100 people, a range of modern amenities will be offered, from phone booths and private meeting rooms to wellness rooms and kitchenettes. Membership options cover a selection of virtual office and dedicated desk services. Members can also opt to enjoy the wider building facilities, which include a fully fitted fitness center, event space and access to the rooftop.
With its location at 875 15th St. NW., the new flex workspace is next to McPherson Square and just a few minutes’ walk from Layfette Square. The historic Bowen Building, constructed in 1922, is owned by JP Morgan Chase (JPM) and home to its regional headquarters. JPM purchased the 231,000-square-foot property for $140 million in 2018.
Recently refurbished, the property’s main lobby, lounge, and event space have been renovated and redesigned. Additionally, the 12-story property has also undergone a modernization of its building systems with the implementation of state-of-the-art technology that registers the Bowen Building as a Class A office space.
The fifth flexible workspace from Hines, the site is the company’s first on the East Coast. Other U.S. locations include two in Houston and one Salt Lake City. Hines opened its fourth location — and its first outside the U.S. — in the heart of Mexico City at the end of 2022.
The Square first launched in 2019, opening locations at 717 Texas Ave. in Houston and at the Kearns Building in Salt Lake City.
