Iconic Dallas Building for Sale
CBRE is marketing one of the most recognizable office properties in downtown Dallas. The Renaissance Tower hit the market last November, according to the Dallas News, and is still up for grabs.
If you’ve never been to D-Town, you may yet know the 56-story office tower from the television series named after the Texas metropolis, as outside shots of the building served as the make-belief headquarters of “Ewing Oil” and “Ewing Energies.”
Renaissance Tower Still Competitive, 26 Years after Major Renovation
The property is just as impressive in real life. A standout on the local skyline, the Class A trophy office tower at 1201 Elm Street offers 1.7 million square feet rich in amenities:
- building conference facilities and concierge
- 24-hour security and management services
- 12-story parking garage, direct access to DART rail and bus services, as well as the CBD underground tunnel system
- 9-story, half-pyramid Crystal Court structure that encompasses retail, restaurants and convenience stores
The Renaissance Tower’s last major makeover was in the late 1980s to early 1990s. According to the Dallas Business Journal, the building was purchased in 2006 by the Moinian Group and SMA Equities for about $150 million and was over 80% leased at the time. In September of last year, the Environmental Protection Agency signed a 20-year lease to relocate its regional offices to 229,000 square feet at the landmark tower. The move is planned for early 2019.
