The Clermont Hotel has a diverse and vibrant history. During the 1920’s to the 

1950’s it catered to black clientele including several black jazz musicians of the 

time. Registered with the Historic Resource Board No. 509.

In more recent times the building has been operated as SRO (Sleeping Room Only/

Single Room Occupancy) housing. The building includes 56 rooms (no bathroom 

or kitchen), first floor office, common kitchen, and 2-3 common bathrooms per 

floor. While the property requires substantial repairs to be made habitable, a 

few repairs have been made over the years including new electrical breakers and 

wiring and some new windows. Repairs needed include foundation repair, wood 

repair, and general maintenance.

Due to earthquake safety related to foundation repairs, the property is being vacated 

of all residents. It is anticipated the property will be delivered at closing vacant 

to the purchaser. All property tours to be scheduled through the listing agents.
