Decatur is home to the North American headquarters of Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and the Global Mining Division of Caterpillar (CAT) which are the two largest employers in Decatur. Tate & Lyle (TATYF) is another industry driver in Decatur. They process grain into food grade meals, oils or other biproducts. Other significant employers are Decatur Public School District, Decatur Memorial Hospital, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, and Millikin University.
