Sapulpa is a suburban city in Creek and Tulsa counties in the state of Oklahoma. Sapulpa is located approximately 13 miles from downtown Tulsa and as of 2019 had an estimated population of 21,278. Sapulpa has a rich downtown that has seen immense improvement over recent decades. In the past 30 years, $35 million in private and public funds have been funneled into downtown brick-and-mortar projects. The city is accomplishing this through a four-point plan with a focus on recruiting diverse and specialized retail, developing upper-floor spaces into housing and offices, and image promotion. Tulsa is the second-largest city in the state of Oklahoma and the 45th-most populous city in the United States. It is the principal municipality of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area, a region with 991,400 residents in the MSA and 1,251,172 in the CSA. The city serves as the county seat of Tulsa County, the most densely populated county in Oklahoma, with urban development extending into Osage, Rogers, and Wagoner counties. Tulsa is situated on the Arkansas River at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in northeast Oklahoma, a region of the state known as “Green Country.” Considered the cultural and arts center of Oklahoma, Tulsa houses two world-renowned art museums, full-time professional opera and ballet companies, and one of the nation’s largest concentrations of art deco architecture. For most of the 20th century, the city held the nickname “Oil Capital of the World” and played a major role as one of the most important hubs for the American oil industry. Though once heavily dependent on the oil industry, the economic downturn and subsequent diversification efforts created an economic base in the energy, finance, aviation, telecommunications, and technology sectors. The City of Tulsa is also a Cox Gigabit City. This means that all citizens within the City of Tulsa limits now have access to gigabit Internet speeds, or speeds fast enough to download hundreds of movies, music, and photos in seconds. Being a “Gig City” is important to attract entrepreneurs and to work with groups such as The Forge, Tulsa’s curriculum-based certified business incubator that accelerates innovative, high-growth startups. The Tulsa Port of Catoosa, at the head of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, is the most inland river port in the US with access to international waterways. Two institutions of higher education within the city have sports teams at the NCAA Division I level, Oral Roberts University and the University of Tulsa..
